On August 18, 2016, at the age of 15 months, Nash was diagnosed with an inoperable malignant neoplasm intramedullary spinal cord tumor with significant neurological deficit. During the next two years, Nash would go through four different rounds of chemotherapy, brain surgery, and brain and spine radiation. However, Nash was a fighter. Though he was given twice the dose of radiation that they would give an adult, he kept pushing through.

Though the tumor is still present, it has remained dormant and Nash has been doing amazingly well. Doctors are amazed at how Nash continues to remain positive and resilient throughout this entire process. The one thing that has kept Nash going is his favorite doctor, Dr. Manoo Bhakta, pediatric oncologist at Children’s Hospital at Erlanger. Nash trusts Dr. Bhakta so much that everyone else has to get his okay before any operation is done.

Dr. Bhakta calls Nash his own miracle kid, and he most definitely is one. His mother says, “Nash’s story is one of faith, hope, love, and above all, never giving up.” His story is all that and so much more.
